In 2020 together with the Fundación Renovables (Renewables Foundation) we launched the “Shine with your own light” campaign for people to begin to become aware of the possibilities and opportunities afforded by the self-supply of photovoltaic energy.
Fortunately, a new opportunity arose to cooperate with the Fundación on another project. The challenge this time being develop the previous communication concept to continue encouraging self-supply, this time focusing on associations and energy communities.
Day by day, the idea of getting a small community, or even a neighborhood or apartment building to produce, store, sell and manage its own renewable energy to be both cleaner and more economical, without depending exclusively on major electric utilities, falls increasingly within reach and can be achieved by associating.
This new 2021 campaign is a clear call to action and makes us realize we are standing in the face of a potential revolution. Our aim was to convey an inspiring message proclaiming our active role in the energy system. We chose to carry forward the language used in the previous campaign to continue to inform and inspire people to consume energy collectively.
In addition to continuing to use bioluminescence, a beautiful metaphor for self-supply inspiring an active role in energy production and management, we want to elicit the example of symbiotic and cooperative union in life itself, allowing those who unite to triumph just as biologist Lynn Margulis never tired of saying.
We therefore made a video, much like a nature documentary, but set in an urban environment which is where we have the potential to change our energy system. In this continuation of the previous campaign, fireflies take over the city and we show these beautiful creatures’ bioluminescence through a series of different pieces that help us to communicate the various benefits of collective self-supply. One of the main premises was for the campaign to be centered as little as possible on humankind to turn our attention to nature and other species.
